2022's Top 15 Girls High School Volleyball Players To Watch This Season

Sophia Debonis (Bay Shore High School 2023)

  • Sophia is one of the most skilled players on the island. She defends well, sets with precision and most importantly has that killer instinct with the game on the line.




 


Ella Maldonado (Calhoun High School 2023)

  • The Calhoun native shows great instinct defensively. Ella has great footwork in serve receive and has great touch with her platform. She dominated at the LIVBALL All-Star game last year and left the gym with a lasting impression.


 


Lauren Konzen (Connetquot High School 2023)

  • Lauren is a player who has seen a lot of success in her time on Long Island playing in multiple championships on the State and Long Island level. Lauren has phenomenal instincts on defense and can be a serious weapon from the service line.

 


Morgan Reese (Sayville High School 2024)

  • Morgan boasts a fast arm swing with the ability to hit every shot in the book. She can heat up and be an unstoppable force against any team. The junior is looking to have an enormous offensive season.


 

Nicole Palmer (East Islip High School 2023)

  • Nicole is going into her 5th year as the starting setter on East Islip’s Varsity team. She gives a lot of credit to her sister and Coach Eriksen for helping her become the player that she is today.

 


Mary Wolcott (Half Hollow Hills High School 2025)

  • Mary showed flashes of greatness last year in her freshman campaign. The dominant setter is looking to carry Half Hollow Hills to a nice Suffolk County playoff run.


 


Sadie Reich (Wantagh High School 2025)

  • Sadie is a three year varsity starter on the pin and is looking to lead her team to another Long Island Championship this season.



 


Katie Powers (St. Anthonys High School 2023)

  • Katie dominated in the Catholic league last year. She is a versatile Pin Hitter who will be a difficult matchup for most teams.


 


Julia Lawrence (Calhoun High School 2023)

  • One of the most dangerous pin hitters on the Island. Julia has a strong arm swing with some serious bounce. Her experience on the beach shows especially when you watch her on defense. She will look to be the offensive catalyst for the Calhoun colts.


 


Cassandra Genduso (Kings Park High School 2023)

  • The Right Side emerged last year showing off some great athleticism and a phenomenal arm swing. Cassandra affects the game defensively with her blocking ability.


 


Kira Pirrera (Smithtown West High School 2023)

  • A three-year varsity starter and one of the best athletes in the class. Kira will be looked upon to not only distribute the ball for Smithtown West but also terminate from time to time when needed. The Righty has an enormous arm swing and is a force at the net.

 


Sophia DiGirolamo (Ward Melville High School 2023 )

  • Sophia is another one of the very talented pins in the 2023 class. She has a strong physical presence and has the ability to take games over offensively. Look for her to carry Ward Melville from the offensive standpoint.


 


Elena Savage (West Babylon High School 2024)

  • West Babylon's captain, Elena has a ton of playing experience and is a great leader for her teammates on and off the court.




 


Mikalah Curran (Commack High School 2023)

  • Mikalah is a four year varsity starter at the outside position. She has won All League, All Conference & All County and was named an LIVBALL All Star in 2021. Watch out for Mikalah and Commack as they are expected to make a deep playoff run.

 


Maggie Hayes (Islip High School 2023)

  • The 2020 Rookie of the Year has been starting on varsity since 10th grade. She has been previously awarded All County Tournament Team as well as All League.
